My poetry is sappy and another word that rhymes with sappy. It’s bad. But I enjoy it.
“I write haikus to the world”
obnoxious classroom
i write haikus to the world
to ease my boredom

“An All Too Common Theme”
A thousand words to say but three
which quell the heart with time,
like lumber stolen from a tree
a most common rhyme,
do tell the mind such forsworn hate
and a pitiable largess
that what cannot be
the heart it doth suppress.

You moved me. You move
me. The Earth never stops spinning.
I can sit in a chair, and smile
at my delight in
not -
physically -
moving.
If there were one word
to sum up these emotions
I would be disappointed.
If there were one language
in which to express myself
I would cry.
The next time we think about
disappointment and shame
we should reach
into our back pockets
for words.
Our own personal filing cabinet.

“I have witnessed Deafening Silence”
Will you pass by
and bow your head
to the ground
that sinks underneath
a heavy load of thoughts
and the lot of dread?
Dismal streetlamps
illuminate the disgrace,
desolate streets always
remember my face.
I have witnessed
Deafening Silence that enjoins me
to speak
to the loving one
that smells the sweetest flower
and climbs the highest peaks.

“To Emily” (this one is really a joke about being cynical)
Surprised? by rhyme,
by notes, by colors,
dispositions-
tickle the ear,
seal the tomb,
bleed the heart,
minus suspicion?
The Robin doesn’t return
From Winter, Emily,
The Bee will not
Save the Pollen, Emily.

“there comes a time”
when all i want to do is cook for you your favorite foods
plant for you all the sweetest flowers
play for you all the saddest songs
and sleep with you the deepest sleep the world has ever known
